JOINT CITY CC~NCIL/P~ AND ZONIN~ COMMISSION MEETING <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE 0F M/NNESUA% <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council and Ramsey Planning and Zoning Cc~mission conducted <br />a joint meeting on Tuesday, February 17, 1987 at the Ramsey Municipal <br />Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Gary Reimann <br />Councilmember Arnie Cox <br />Counciln~m~er A1 Pearson <br />Councilmember Steve DeLuca <br />Mr. Ken Peterson, P&Z Chairman <br />Mr. Jim Howell, P&Z <br />Mr. Terry Rendriksen, P&Z <br />Mr. Gerald Zimmerman, P&Z <br />Mr. Ben De6mer, P&Z <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator David Hartley <br />Community Development Director Anne Norris <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />Councilmember A1 Sorteberg <br />Mr. Roy Shumway, P&Z <br />Mr. Charles LaDue, P&Z <br /> <br />CA~ ~ ORDE~ <br /> <br />Mayor Reimann called the special joint meeting to order at 8:45 p.m. <br /> <br />COUNCIL/COMMISSION DISCUSSION <br /> <br />Mr. Hartley stated that Mayor Reimann has pointed out that a 1987 goal <br />is to improve the ability of Council, boards and commissions to work <br />together as a team. Through research he has found out that in order for <br />these groups to work as team they have to understand each others values. <br />Mr. Hartley proceeded to have those present fill out questionaires having <br />to do with various government functions and who should be responsible for <br />those functions. The results of the questionaire showed that there needs <br />to be more discussion regarding who is responsible for what. <br /> <br />Mayor Reimann stated that there has been a difference of opinion between <br />Council and P&Z regarding h~ne occupations but he feels both bodies are now <br />on the right track of trying to limit and discourage business in <br />residential areas. <br /> <br />Counciln~mber Cox stated that there will always be differences of opinion <br />but problems arise when citizens leave P&Z with a positive recommendation <br />and receive a different opinion when they reach Council; there has to be <br />consistency. <br /> Joint City Council-Planning & Zoning/February 17, 1987 <br /> <br /> <br />
