Special Meeting P & Z
August 182 1977

SPECIAL MEETING OF
CITYiOF RAMSEY PLANNING
& ZONING COMMISSION

A special meeting of the Ramsey Planning and Zoning Commission was held
on August 18, 1977, at 7:30 p.m., at Ramsey City Hall, 14100 St. Francis
Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, MN. 55303

Present:

A1 Sorteber§
Brad Bodl e
Gerald Zimmerman
Art Dunn
Ken Peterson

Purpose of the meeting was to consider a variance request for Sherwin Shenk
and a variance request for Jack Kovar for the parcel described below.

Mr. Jack Kovar appeared on his behalf to request a variance to build on
a parcel of land less than 2 acres in Industrial zoned area which he is
purchasing from Sherwin Shenk. This tract is located between County
Road 56 and County Road 83 and southerly of the Burlington Northern
Railroad tracks, and northerly of Highway 10. It is legally described
as follows:

That part of the Northeast Quarter of the Southwest Quarter (NE 1/4 of
SW 1/4), Section 28, Township 32, Range 25, described as follows:
Commencing at the point of intersection of the West line of the said
Northeast Quarter of the~Southwest Quarter and the Northerly right of
way line of State U.S, Trunk Highway 10; thence Southeasterly along the
Northerly right of way of said highway as the same is now laid out and
constructed for a distance of 300 feet; thence North and parallel with
the West line of said Northeast Quarter of Southwest Quarter to the
intersection of the Southerly right of way of the Great Northern Railway;
thence Northwesterly along said right of way to the West line of the North-
east Quarter of the Southwest Quarter; thence South along said West line
to the point of beginning.

Present zoning in this tract of land is IndUstrial. Mr. Kovar intends to build
a steel pole building 50" X 100' which would house a factory intending to
manufacture farm machinery.

Concern was expressed about a frontage road running along Highway No. 10 as
his semi-trucks would be]exiting and entering from this Highway. It was generally
agreed that a frontage should be used on this tract.

Ken Peterson moved to recommend to the City Council to grant Sherwin Shenk
(the present owner) a variance to subdivide by metes and bound and grant
Jack Kovar a variance for. a building permit to build on a parcel of land less
than 2 acres. Also that Mr. Kovar reserve a 40' strip of land for a frontage
road. Seconded by Art Dunn and Carried 5 to O.
