ORDINANCE #04-25 <br /> <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />AN AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 8 WHICH IS KNOWN AS THE BUILDING AND <br />HOUSING CHAPTER OF THE CITY CODE OF RAMSEY, MINNESOTA. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 8 BY ADDING CHAPTER 1306, SUBPART <br />3, NEW BUILDINGS WITH ITEM E, OPTION 1, IN THE MINNESOTA BUILDING <br />CODE. <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey ordains: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. AMENDMENT <br /> <br />Chapter 8 of the Ramsey City Code is hereby amended with Ordinance #04-25 by adding <br />Chapter 1306, Subpart 3, as letter "c". (The current letter "c" becomes "d" and so on.) The new <br />letter "c" shall read as follows: <br /> <br />Chapter 1306 - Fire Suppression Systems (Subpart 3, New Buildings with Item E, <br />Option 1 ) <br /> <br />SECTION 2. PURPOSE <br /> <br />Thc purpose of this amendment is to provide long term public safety for the future of our <br />community, the safety of our firefighters, and the economic stability of the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. SUMMARY <br /> <br />Thc following official summary of Ordinance #04-25 has been approved by the City Council of <br />the City of Ramsey as clearly informing the public of the intent and effect of the Ordinance. <br /> <br />It is the intcnt and effect of Ordinance #04-25 to add reference to Chapter 1306 to Chapter 8 of <br />the City Code, dealing with special fire protection systems. This chapter allows the City to <br />require fire sprinklers in homes according to what code they are built to. Commercial structures <br />woukl havc a lower threshold they would be held to (in many cases to 2,000 square feet). <br />Residential (reference to Option 1) New Construction Only - Option 1 requires sprinklers in all <br />residential occupancies that are greater than 8,500 square feet. (This 8,500 square feet is the <br />gross area of the residence including all floors, basements, and garages.) This wouhl not affect <br />ttnattached one attd two fantily hontes unless they are over 8,500 square feet. <br /> <br />SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE <br /> <br />Thc cffectivc (late oF this ordinance is thirty (30) days after its passage and publication, subject to <br />City Charter Scction 5.07. <br /> <br /> <br />
