MAKE THE SCENE, KEEP RAMSEY CLEAN COMMITTEE <br /> <br /> MINUTES <br /> <br /> May 1, 1989 <br /> <br />Meeting called to order at 7:03 p.m. byChairman Terry Miller. <br /> <br />Members present: Dave Bawden, Claudia Dodge, Gary Hoffard, Robert Bruns, Steve <br /> Bluhm, Kathi Peterson, Terry Miller, Merle Mevissen, Jim Gromberg. <br /> <br />The agenda and minutes were approved. <br /> <br />The Clean-up Month weekend pickups went well. Approximately 141 appliances <br />and 39.26 tons of tires were picked up. Jim will obtain a count on the batteries.. <br /> <br />Clean-up Day, May 6, arrangements are going well. Pick-up points were designated <br />for the Saturday roadside crews. Volunteers from the Committee can help with any <br />of the scheduled activities. <br /> <br />Dave Bawden gave a Clean-up Day Picnic update. The event will run from 10:00 a.m. <br />until 1:00 p.m. Buttons will be given out to volunteers plus a lunch consisting <br />of hot dogs, chips, and pop. <br /> <br />Certificates for those volunteers who helped during Arbor.Day activities Will be <br />done through the Education subcommittee. Claudia will have to get a list of volun- <br />teers from Bruce Bacon. <br />A motion by Dave Bawden and seconded by Robert Bruns to allocate funds for a produc- <br />tion called the Teddy Bear Band was approved. The cost will be $255 and Claudia <br />will coordinate date and time. The program will highlight recycling and will be at <br />Ramsey Elementary. <br /> <br />Steve Bluhm reported that the Solid Waste subcommitte will be involved with bids <br />and specifications for a decentralized wood chipping program. Also the curbside <br />recycling program will be reviewed to ascertain if an expanded program-is feasible. <br /> <br />Jim Gromberg reported that approximately 1000 trees were planted for Arbor Day. <br />Areas planted were Ramsey Elementary, City Hall, and a park in Countryside Estates. <br />Trees were distributed at the pet clinic to residents and again will be distributed <br />at various Clean-up Day activities. <br /> <br />A motion was approved to accept the resignations of Leo LeTourneau and Bob Mueller. <br />A motion by Gary Hoffard and seconded by Robert Bruns to appoint Larry Anderson <br />chairman of the Business and Industry subcommittee.was approved. There was discussio~ <br />on membership and attendance. Claudia Dodge will write a recruitment article for the <br />Ramsey Resident. <br /> <br />Subcommittee meetings were all scheduled for June 5th at 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The next full committee meeting will be June 5 at 7:00 p.m. at Ramsey City Hall. <br /> <br />The meeting was adjourned at 8:05 p.m. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Kathi Peterson <br /> <br />Secretary <br /> <br /> <br />
