MAKE THE SCENE, KEEP RAMSEY CLEAN <br /> <br /> COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br /> June 5, 1989 <br /> <br />,The meeting was called to order by Chairman Terry Miller at 6:50 p.m. <br /> <br /> Members present: Claudia Dodge, Terry Miller, Glen Hardin, Dave Bawden, Jim Gromberg, <br /> Kathi Peterson, Leigh Lundberg, Gary Hoffard. <br /> <br />The.agenda was approved with following additions: <br /> <br /> 9. KAB 100 letter <br />10. Sub-committee membership list <br />11. Water tower <br />12. Roger Lee, Lord of Life Church <br />13. National Award submission <br /> <br />The minutes of the May 1, 1989 meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Ramsey Clean-up Month and Day were discussed. The following suggestions were made: <br /> <br />1) A new method of obtaining permits prior to the clean-up should be formulated. <br />2) Tire disposal will have to be monitored with a possible charge to residents. <br />3) Possibility of specific days for various disposals: tires, batteries, and <br /> appliances. <br />4) Start early(possibly in December) to notify residents of upcoming clean-up <br /> events. <br />5) Possibility of "for charge" scheduled week-end pick-ups. <br /> <br />A 3-week deadline for sub-committees to formulate 1990 budget proposals was made.with <br />discussion on the entire budget scheduled for the ~uly meeting. <br /> <br />The following programs for emphasis in 1990 were discussed: <br /> <br /> 1) Business & industry programs .~ :'~'~ <br /> 2) Improve photometric index by ordinance <br /> 3) Investigate & make suggestions regarding existing ordinances and new ordinances. <br /> 4) Encourage city-wide recycling. <br /> a) Lobby city council fop city implementation. <br /> b) Educate citizens on recycling. <br /> c) RFP for city-wide recycling and area recycling. <br /> 5) New city signs with KAB logo and recognition. <br /> 6) Possible household hazardous waste clean-up. <br /> <br />Claudia Dodge, Education Sub-committee reported the Teddy Bear performance will be held <br />next fall possibly in conjunction with a recycling forum. A more ecology oriented <br />program rather than merely recycling was suggested. <br /> <br />Consideration to changing the by-laws to provide for a smooth transition for elected <br />offices was discussed. The Committee should have a definite idea by November to be <br />presented to City Council for approval discussion should occur at the August meeting. <br /> <br />Another consideration is to change the name of the Committee possibly k~e~ng the <br />current name as a slogan. Members are asked to give suggestions for new names. <br /> <br /> <br />
