PROCEEDINGS OF THE <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />Chairman Donald Greenberg called the special meeting of the Ramsey Economic <br />Development Commission to order at 8:05 a.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 1983 <br />at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mr. Don Greenberg, Chairman <br />Mr. Bill G. Miller <br />Mrs. Astrid Guy <br />Mr. Jack Menkveld <br />Mr. Arnie Cox <br />Mr. Bob Muller <br />Mr. Joe Sentyrz <br />Mr. Darryl Fults (arrived at 8:15 a.m.) <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Mr. Tom Gamec, Mayor <br />Mr. Lloyd Schnelle, City Administrator <br />Mr. William Goodrich~ City Attorney <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Mr. Jack Schneider <br />Mr. Steve Schmidt <br /> <br />Hazardous Waste <br /> <br />Mrs. Guy stated that she was pleased with Council's adoption and submitting <br />of Resolution #83-11a regarding Ramsey's objection to a hazardous waste <br />facility being located within the City, but that EDC should have been <br />notified of this action. <br /> <br />Mr. Greenberg read the subject resolution aloud to the audience and Commission <br />members present. <br /> <br />Mr. Cox commented that remarks were made at the Hazardous Waste Public Hearing <br />held March 21, 1983 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, that the adoption of this <br />resolution was a political move, but by the adoption of that resolution you <br />can see that there are a lot of people in Ramsey that are opposed to a <br />hazardous waste facility within the City. Mr. Cox further stated that a <br />generator type facility could encourage a tax base, but a storage type facility <br />would be of a minimum tax base. Mr. Cox also stated that Ramsey has used very <br />good planning and economic growth and public welfare are coming together. <br />He further commented that if Council has been waiting for EDC to take a stand <br />on the issue, then they might as well get off the City Council. <br /> <br />Mr. Sentyrz then read aloud Mr. Jack Schneider's letter of March 17, 1983 <br />stating his opposition to a hazardous waste facility being located in Ramsey. <br />The subject letter is included as an enclosure to these minutes. <br /> <br />Mr. Schnelle informed EDC that Council adopted a resolution at their special <br />meeting on Monday, March 21, 1983 requesting the County to remove Site "P,, <br />from their inventory of proposed landfill sites. <br /> <br />EDC/March 22, 1983 <br /> Page i of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
