• <br />Council member Anderson introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #01 -01 -010 <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE MINNESOTA <br />DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND THE RAMSEY POLICY DEPARTMENT FOR A <br />YOUTH TOBACCO PREVENTION INITIATIVE GRANT <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Ramsey recognizes that the illegal sale and <br />use of tobacco products by the juveniles of our community has been a continuing problem and is <br />of increasing public concern; and <br />WHEREAS, the mission of the Ramsey Police Department is to reduce juvenile use of <br />tobacco products through educating juveniles and retailers and through aggressive enforcement <br />of Ramsey Ordinance #98 -02; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey, a Charter City as defined by applicable State Statutes, <br />is empowered to enter into a grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Health; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey represents that it is duly qualified and willing to <br />perform the services set forth herein by assigning such duties to the Ramsey Police Department. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />IIII <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br />1. That the City of Ramsey Police Department shall work with the State of Minnesota, <br />concerned community groups and individuals and other grantees who have like <br />Minnesota Youth Tobacco Prevention Initiative Grant agreements to change the social <br />environment at the community level to make juvenile access to and use of tobacco <br />products undesirable and unacceptable. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Kurak, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />Mayor Gamec <br />Councilmember Anderson <br />Councilmember Kurak <br />Councilmember Hendriksen <br />Councilmember Zimmerman <br />and the following voted against the same: <br />None <br />and the following abstained: <br />None <br />
