Councilmember Zimmerman introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #01 -01 -020 <br />RESOLUTION SETTING A PUBLIC HEARING ON A PROPOSED RENAMING OF <br />1.53 AVENUE NW FROM ROANOKE STREET NW TO HEMATITE STEET NW, <br />AND 155 AVENUE NW FROM RAMSEY BOULEVARD NW TO VAROLITE <br />STREET NW, AND 153 AVENUE NW FROM ARMSTRONG BOULEVARD TO <br />HIGHWAY #10, TO ALPINE DRIVE. <br />WI- IEREAS, the above reference roadway segments will provide a six mile continuous, <br />east /west, Municipal State Aid (MSA) collector roadway across the City upon the completion of <br />the segment between Variolite Street N.W. and 155 Avenue N.W., and 153 Avenue N.W. and <br />Armstrong Boulevard N.W.; and <br />WHEREAS, the current names for this collector roadway change from 153 Avenue <br />N.W. to 155 Avenue N.W., and back to 153 Avenue N.W. which is unnecessarily complex <br />and confusing; and <br />WHEREAS, renaming this soon to be continuous six mile roadway to the single <br />destination of Alpine Drive N.W. can eliminate this complexity and confusion, and thus enhance <br />the public safety and welfare. <br />• NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br />1) That the City Administrator is hereby directed to schedule a public hearing at 7:00 p.m. on <br />Tuesday, February 13, 2001 for the purpose to solicit input on the above proposal. <br />The motion of the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Hendriksen and upon vote being taken thereon, the following in favor thereof: <br />Mayor Gainec <br />Councilmember Zimmerman <br />Councilmember Hendriksen <br />Councilmember Anderson <br />Councilmember Kurak <br />and the following voted against the same: <br />None <br />and the following abstained: <br />None <br />and the following were absent: <br />None <br />
