Filings for Mayor and Council opened this past Tuesday. We <br /> have received two filings thus far. John LeTourneau filed for the office of Mayor and Nadine <br /> Heinrich filed for the seat of Councilmember, Ward 1. Filings continue to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, <br /> June 5. <br /> Public Tree Survey. This summer, the City of Ramsey is attempting to complete a Public Tree <br /> Survey entirely through the assistance of volunteers. In partnership with the University of <br /> Minnesota's Department of Forest Resources, community volunteers will be trained as tree survey <br /> scientists, learning key tree identification skills as well as measuring and condition rating <br /> techniques. There will be two (2)training sessions that need to be attended in order to assist with <br /> this project. Friday,June 1 from 5:30pm to 8:00pm and Saturday,June 2 from 9:00am to 11:30am. <br /> Both trainings will be at the Ramsey Municipal Center. The first session is a `classroom' style <br /> training and the second session will be outdoors, applying your newly learned skills. An informational letter was sent to residential addresses in the <br /> Alpaca Estates subdivision, on the west side of Mississippi West Regional Park. The new trail <br /> within the park is under construction now and will be substantially complete around the first week <br /> in July. The letter explains that there will be empty trucks leaving the park onto 142nd Avenue, as <br /> the trail is constructed from east to west, within the park. The City will take possession of electronic poll books <br /> sometime in June to begin use for the August Primary election. Three members of City staff <br /> attended a training on the poll books and will assist in training the election judges on same. Staff <br /> was impressed with the ease of use and the entire process and looks forward to even more <br /> efficiency in the polling place with the new technology.
