PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />The Ramsey Public Works Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, October 21, <br />2003 at the Ramsey Fire Station Number I, 15050 Armstrong Boulevard NW, Ramsey, <br />Minnesota. <br />Members Present: <br />Members Absent: <br />Also Present: <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Chairperson Gerald Zimmerman <br />Councilmember Todd Cook <br />Councilmember Patti Kurak (Alternate) <br />Councilmember David Elvig <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Dean Kapler <br />Assistant Director of Public Works Brian Olson <br />City Engineer Steve Jankowski <br />Civil Engineer II Len Linton <br />Chairperson Zimmerman called the regular meeting of the Public Works Committee to order at <br />5:41 p.m. <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br />There was none. <br />COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br />1) Potassium Street Drainage Concerns <br />City Engineer Jankowski stated that within the past several weeks concern has been expressed <br />from two residents along Potassium Street relative to the drainage surrounding the small wetland <br />located in the backyards of 14660 Potassium Street, Jay and Tamara Mault, and 14680 <br />Potassium, Mr. Steve Roof. The east half of this wetland is located in these two yards while the <br />west is located in the Village of Sunfish Lake. Staff presented exhibits illustrating the drainage <br />area contributing to this wetland prior to the Village of Sunfish Lake and the drainage area <br />contributing to this wetland subsequent to the Village of Sunfish Lake. Prior to the Village of <br />Sunfish Lake development a storm sewer to 146th Avenue provided an outlet for this wetland <br />once storm water would reach an elevation of 866.1. This outlet elevation was sufficient to <br />prevent flooding of the residential structures surrounding this depression but would allow yard <br />flooding. The grading and drainage plan for the Village of Sunfish Lake reduced the contributing <br />Public Works Committee/October 21, 2003 <br />Page 1 of 8 <br />
