A Special Election will occur on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 for <br />residents that live in Ward 1. Ward 1 is located (generally) on the northeast side of the City. <br />As background, Councilmember Nadine Heinrich, who represented the City in Ward 1, resigned <br />from the Council, effective July 14, 2020. As a result of the vacancy in the Ward 1 office, and <br />because more than 365 days remain in the term of the vacated office, pursuant to City Charter <br />requirement, the City Council directed that a special election be held in Ward 1. The term of this <br />office runs through January 2, 2023. Due to State Statutes dictating uniform election dates for <br />Special Elections, the first authorized date for a Special Election is Tuesday, February 9, 2021. <br />Candidates listed on the ballot are Ryan Heineman and Jane Covart. <br />Ward 1 Voting / Absentee Voting Continues. Ramsey residents who reside in Ward 1 may vote <br />in -person absentee for the Special Election at the Ramsey Municipal Center or the Anoka County <br />Government Center. To find out which ward you reside in, visit https://pollfinder.sos.state.mn.us. <br />Absentee voting hours are between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Absentee <br />voting will also be available on Saturday, February 6, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm and on Monday, <br />February 8, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Residents can also vote absentee via U.S. mail by contacting <br />Anoka County Elections at 763-324-1300 or request a ballot online at <br />https://www.sos.state.mn.us/elections-voting/.
