CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />Thc Ramsey City Council conducted a City Council Work Session on Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at <br />the Ramsey Fire Station Number I, 15050 Armstrong Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Councilmember Todd Cook <br />Councilmember David Elvig <br />Councilmember David Jeffrey <br />Councilmember Mary Jo Olson <br />Councilmember A1 Pearson <br />Councilmember Sarah Strommen <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator James E. Norman <br />Assistant City Administrator Heidi Nelson <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Dean Kapler <br />Human Resources Director Givonna Reed <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Mark Riverblood <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the City Council Work Session to order at 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />APl'ROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />The agcnda was approved as submitted. <br /> <br />COUNCIL TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION <br /> <br />1) Organizational and Compensation Studies <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman reviewed that the Council has discussed conducting organizational <br />and compensation studies. He explained that the city of Eagan recently conducted an <br />organizational study in response to some significant changes the organization is facing. <br />Management initiated the study and will use the results as a tool to address the following two <br />major issues: <br /> 1. The retirements of several senior managers <br /> 2. Eagan's service delivery model given that the City is approximately 95% built out <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Reed explained with the rapid growth Ramsey is currently <br />experiencing it would be valuable to have some experts provide their knowledge to the City.
