PUBLIC SAFETY BOARD <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Public Safety Board conducted a regular meeting on Thursday, January 12, 2006, <br />the conference room in the Police Department, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, <br />Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Boardmember Resident Tom Anderson <br />Boardmember Resident Joe Riddle <br />Boardmember Police Department Rep Brad Paplham <br />Boardmember Fire Department Rep David Lewandowski <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec, Ex-officio <br />Councilmember Alan Pearson, Ex-officio <br />Fire Chief Dean Kapler, Ex-officio <br />Police Chief James Way, Ex-officio <br /> <br />Members Absent: Resident Boardmember Vacancy <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Chairperson Anderson called the regular meeting of the Public Safety Board to order at 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />BOARD BUSINESS: <br /> <br />1) Police Department Update <br /> <br />Police Chief Way offered a recap of the activities in the Police Department for 2005. <br /> <br />1) <br />2) <br /> <br />3) <br /> <br />4) <br /> <br />5) <br /> <br />One officer was added in 2005. <br />One officer retired after a lot of years in the Department - Jim Balabon - his position <br />was filled with Officer Jerad Dixon <br />Beginning in April, Officer Ryan Law missed 20 weeks of duty due to an off-duty, <br />automobile accident. The POST Board granted Ramsey an officer - Todd <br />Brotkowski. He was one of Ramsey's first reserves <br />There were all kinds of calls to respond to - one being a dynamite find in Rum River <br />Central Park. One of two stashes were located and it was detonated right there in the <br />park. The St. Paul bomb squad took care of it at no charge. It had been buried about <br />12 years ago. <br />There were several functions that required police presence over the year - school <br />dances, the 4th of July celebration at Diamonds, the teen dance at Lord of Life, the <br /> <br />Public Safety Board -January 12, 2006 <br /> Page 1 of 8 <br /> <br /> <br />
