Parks & Recreation Events and Updates • Kites and Bites Help us fill the spring sky with colorful kites at Elmcrest Park on Saturday, April 29, from 11:00 am — 2:00 pm! There will be plenty of fun for everyone with food trucks, kites, face painting, games and more. Kites will be available for free for kids while supplies last. • City-wide Garage Sale The City-wide Garage sale is scheduled for Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6, 8:00 - 5:00 pm. Police Officer (2 openings) The primary objective of this position is to perform responsible police work involving the protection and safety of the community through prevention and control of crime, maintaining or restoring public order, investigating crime, regulating traffic, enforcing laws and providing emergency services; as well as other related duties as required. This is a full-time LELS-Patrol union position. The 2023 hiring wage is $32.460 per hour. Application deadline is open until filled, apply immediately if interested. • Administrative Assistant Public Works This position's primary objective is to perform various responsible administrative support functions within the Public Works Department. The work requires excellent customer service and phone communications skills, general knowledge of Microsoft applications, and a variety of office procedures. This is a full-time AFSCME union position. The 2023 hiring range is $23.960 to $29.950 per hour. The application deadline is Wednesday, May 17, 2023. • Seasonal Maintenance Workers (2 openings) The primary objective of this position is to provide general maintenance of streets, park grounds, trails, buildings, and related facilities and equipment through the spring, summer and possibly fall months. This also includes mowing and trimming; pruning and planting trees or working on landscape projects; maintaining athletic fields; picking up trash; street and utilities maintenance. These are temporary non -union positions working up to forty (40) hours per week Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. Must be at least 17 years of age or older by June 1st and have a valid Minnesota driver's license. The 2023 hiring wage is $13.00 to $15.00 per hour, depending on qualifications.
