Councilman Cox introduced the following resolution and moved for its <br />adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #81-2 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION REGARDING A RAILROAD UNDERPASS AT STATE TRUNK HIGHWAY #47 IN <br />ANOKA <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the County of Anoka is working on providing a bridge over <br />the Rum River which would provide the citizens of Ramsey and northern Anoka <br />access to the existimg railroad~underpass at 7th Avenue in Anoka, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Federal Highway Administration and the Minnesota De- <br />partment of Transportation have given the Rum River Bridge Crossing a iow <br />priority rating, resulting in delays on reviews of environmental studies <br />required for this project, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, funding to construct the Rum River bridge appears to be <br />in the distant future, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the population of the City of Ramsey based on the pre- <br />liminary 1980 census figures has reached 10,084, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS the number of trains utilizing the B~rlington Northern <br />Railroad approaches 30 per day which could prohibit emergency vehicles in <br />a life or death situation. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA <br />COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br /> 1) The Minnesota Department of Transportation make a detailed in- <br />vestigation of the possibility of the providing a railroad underpass at the <br />intersection of State Trunk #47 and the Burlington Northern Railroad and re- <br />port back to the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br /> 2) Direct the City Administrator to send copies of this resolution <br />to the Minnesota Department of Transportation District 5 Traffic Safety En- <br />gineer and the Commissioner of Transportation. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by <br />Councilperson Van Wagner and upon vote being taken thereon, the following <br />voted in favor thereof: Mayor Gamec, Councilpersons Sorteberg, Van Wagner, <br />aR~m~.~e an~ Coz. <br /> ffoIlowlng voted against the same: None <br /> <br />whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey <br />City Council this the 27th day of January, 1981. <br /> <br /> Mayor Thomas ~Gamec <br /> <br />/~o ~ncilpe r so~l! e~S~j~ erg <br /> <br /> 'Co~cilperson Arnold L./Cox <br /> <br /> - Cof/ilperson~ue/~n Wagner <br />-- ~C ¢'~p e r s o~a~y ~r[n <br /> <br /> <br />
