Councilmember Cox introduced the following resolution and moved for its <br />adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #81- 6 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT THE CITY OF RAMSEY BE FURNISHED ITS OWN ~IL <br />ZIP CODE <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey was incorporated from a township to <br />City status in October, 1974 and as a township it came under the jurisdiction <br />of the City of Anoka, Anoka County, State of ~nnesota post office for mail <br />service; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey, Anoka County, State of Minmesota, <br />is a rapidly growing suburb of over 10,000 plus population based on the <br />1980 Federal Census. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA <br />COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br /> 1) The City Council hereby requests that the City of Ramsey be <br />furnished its own mail zip code. <br /> <br /> 2) It is therefore, directed that this resolution be mailed to <br />the following public officials for action: <br /> <br />Postmaster General <br />Representative Oberstar <br />Senator Rudy Boshwitz <br />Senator David Durenberger <br /> <br /> 3) It is further requested that the above named public officials <br />keep the City of Ramsey informed on this request for a mail zip code. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by <br />Councilmember Van Wagner and upon vote being taken thereon, the following <br />voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec, Comncilmembers Sorteberg, Van Wagner, Reimanm and <br />Cox <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey <br />City Council this the 10th day of March, 1981. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />
