Councilmember Cox introduced the following resolution and moved for its <br />adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #81-10 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO PREPARE A DISCRIMINATION SUIT <br />AGAINST THE STATE OF MINNESOTA IN REGARDS TO THE STATE LAW THAT ESTABLISHES <br />T~ FORMULA FOR THE DISTRIBUTION OF STATE LOCAL GOVERNMENT AID FUNDS TO <br />CITIES <br /> <br /> W~REAS, the City Council, City of Ramsey, Anoka County, <br />State of Minnesota has appealed to the State of Minnesota to have the <br />State law that establishes the distribution of State local government aid <br />funds to cities amended to eliminate the gross inequities in the distri- <br />bution of the funds; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota took legislative action that <br />created distrimination against the City of Ramsey in the distribution of <br />State local government aid funds to cities. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA <br />COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br /> 1) The City Council hereby directs its City Attorney, Mr. <br />William Goodrich, to start preparing a discrimination suit against the <br />State of Minnesota law that establishes the formula for the distribution <br />of local government aid to cities. <br /> <br /> 2) The City Council further authorizes the City Attorney <br />to obtain additional legal expertise in constitutional law should he deem <br />it necessary in proceeding with directive. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded <br />by Councilmember Sorteberg and upon vote being taken thereon, the follow- <br />ing voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br /> Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Van Wagner, Reimann <br /> and Cox <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> None <br /> <br />whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Rsmsey <br />City Council this the 10th day of March, 1981. <br /> <br />Councilmember ~Van Wagner <br />Coun~emb~r Reimann <br /> <br /> <br />
