Councilmember Van Wagner introduced the following resolution and moved for <br />its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ~84-17 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development <br />Federal Insurance Administration completed a flood insurance study for the City <br />of Ramsey in May of 1979; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the study established floodway areas throughout the City <br />of Ramsey; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a large portion of the Raudio property lying east of State <br />Trunk Highway ~47 is located in the floodway; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Minnesota flood plain regulations (MINN. REG. NR 85) limits <br />the increases in flood heights to 0.5 foot; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a part of the Raudio property located in the floodway lies <br />above the 100 year flood elevation of 853; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by filling approximately a six acre area with a maximum of <br />two feet, an area of ten acres would be above the 100 year elevation and available <br />for development; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Raudio, the owner of the floodway property, has donated <br />adjoining property to the City in excess of 60 acres, much of which will be <br />maintained as open space within the floodway. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br /> 1) The DNR review the effects of filling the area shown on the attached <br />topographic map above the 100 year flood elevation. <br /> <br /> Z) The DNR remove the area on the attached map from the floodway <br />provided the filling does not increase the flood height by more than 0.5 foot. <br /> <br /> 3) A copy of this resolution and the attached map be submitted to the <br />DNR. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by <br />Councilmember Sorteberg and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted <br />in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Van Wagner, Sorteberg, Reimann and Schlueter <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey <br />City Council this the ZSth day of February, 1984. <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />
