Councilmember Peterson introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #91-01-020 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AMENDING POLICY FOR SURFACING OF PLAYGROUND <br />EQUIPMENT <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Ramsey has supported a development of <br />recreation playground facilities at City Parks; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, nearly 70% of playground injuries, nation-wide, reportedly are caused by <br />falls from playground equipment and the City of Ramsey is concerned with the cushioning <br />properties of playground surfacing at City parks; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Resolution 4/90-10-341 has been adopted establishing a policy for <br />providing resilient surfacing for equipment placed in City parks; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, an inventory of noncomplying City park play areas has been completed. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />That the City amends its existing policy for surfacing of playground areas in City parks by <br />establishing a goal of retrofitting noncomplying play lots in each of the next three years <br />such that complete compliance is achieved by the end of 1993. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregOing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Cich and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Gilbertson <br />Councilmember Peterson <br />Councilmember Cich <br />Councilmember Beyer <br />Councilmember Hardin <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />and the following abstained: <br /> <br />Nolle <br /> <br />and the following were absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />whereupon said resohltion was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this <br />the 22nd day of January, I991. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />City Administrator <br /> <br /> <br />
