PUBLIC HEARING <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Planning Commission conducted a public hearing on Tuesday, January 5, 1999, at <br />the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota, regarding a <br />request for a Conditional Use Permit for a Cellular Telephone Base Station; Case of AirTouch <br />Communications, Inc. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Interim Chairperson Leo Anderson <br />Commissioner Chris Dempsey <br />Comnuss~oner Sharon Jensen <br />Commissioner Robert Johnson <br />Commissioner Bill Kociscak <br />Commissioner Michael Nixt <br />Comrmss~oner Joe Wivoda <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik <br />Community Development Director Cindy Sherman <br />Community Development Assistant Sean Walther <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Interim Chairperson Anderson convened the public hearing at 7:39 p.m. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Frolik explained an application was received from AirTouch <br />Communications, Inc., to construct and operate a cellular telephone base station at 9539 Highway <br />10, which is occupied by Frank Moody's RV Service. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />Jay Littlejohn, Hessian & McKasy, indicated staff informed AirTouch Communications, Inc., that <br />setbacks were violated with the original site plan. He submitted a new site plan and stated the site <br />was rearranged to meet the required setbacks. The tower will be screened by the existing trees on <br />the site and the base of the tower will be surrounded by fence which is crowned with barbed wire. <br /> <br />Mr. Littlejohn indicated there is an existing 120 foot tower in close proximity to the proposed <br />AirTouch tower. However, he stated the top 40 feet of the other tower is occupied by another <br />company, and additional height is needed by AirTouch. <br /> <br />Public Hearing/Planning Commission/January 5, 1999 <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
