EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />ORDINANCE #02 -04 <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 7 OF THE CITY CODE, WHICH CHAPTER IS <br />KNOWN AS THE LICENSING AND PERMITS CHAPTER OF THE CITY CODE. <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 7.13.06 HOLDING OF PROPERTY OF THE <br />CITY CODE OF RAMSEY, MINNESOTA. <br />The City of Ramsey ordains: <br />SECTION 1. AMENDMENT <br />Subsection 7.13.06 Holding of Property, is amended to read as follows: <br />In the event the Chief of Police, or any member of the City Police force designated by the Chief <br />of Police, notifies any licensee not to sell any property received on deposit or purchased by the <br />licensee, or not to permit the same to be redeemed, and licensee shall not sell nor permit such <br />property to be redeemed until such property is released in writing by the Chief of Police, or <br />designate. No personal property deposited with or purchased by any licensee shall be sold or <br />permitted to be redeemed from the place of business of licensee until thirty (30) days after the <br />copy of the records required by 7.13.04 have been made available to the Chief of Police, except <br />upon written permission of the Chief of Police. <br />SECTION 2. ORDINANCE SUMMARY FOR PUBLICATION <br />The following is the official summary of Ordinance #02 -04, which has been approved by the <br />City Council of the City of Ramsey as clearly informing the public of the intent and effect of the <br />ordinance: <br />Section 7.13.06, Holding of Property, has been modified to increase the number of days a <br />pawnshop must hold on to items from five (5) days to thirty (30) days. This will allow the Police <br />Department more time to check reports and more time for citizens to make reports of stolen or <br />missing items. <br />The effective date of this Ordinance is thirty (30) days after its passage and publication, subject <br />to City Charter Section 5.07. <br />Ordinance #02 -04 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
