• <br />ORDINANCE #02 -07 <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />AN AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 5 WHICH IS KNOWN AS THE MUNICIPAL <br />REGULATIONS CHAPTER OF THE CITY CODE OF RAMSEY, MINNESOTA. <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 5.09 05 "HORSES" OF CHAPTER 5 OF THE <br />CITY CODE OF RAMSEY, MINNESOTA. <br />The City of Ramsey ordains: <br />SECTION 1. AMENDMENT <br />Section 5.09.05, Subd. 1 (Purpose) shall be amended to read as follows: <br />Subd. 1 Intent and Purpose. The intent of this Section is to establish <br />regulations for maintaining horses (as defined in Subd. 2) exclusively on property. Refer to <br />Section 5.09.01 (Keeping of Certain Animals, Livestock and Poultry) for regulations for <br />maintaining a mix of horses and farm animals on property. The purpose of this Section is <br />a. To prohibit the maintaining of horses on lots or parcels of record less than 1.5 <br />acres in size. <br />b. To require a conditional use permit to maintain horses on lots of record 1.5 acres <br />in size and less than 3 acres in size; <br />c. To require the filing with the City of a sketch drawing prior to maintaining a <br />horse on a lot or parcel of record 3 acres and larger in size; and <br />d. To ensure proper handling, treatment and maintenance of horses. <br />Section 5.09.05, Subd. 3 (Acreage Requirements) shall be amended to read as follows: <br />Subd. 3 Acreage Requirements. The following chart prescribes the number of <br />horses that can be maintained on lots of record of sizes as shown. This chart is applicable only <br />to the maintenance of horses exclusively and shall be considered separate from the animal <br />unit formula established in Section 5.09.01 for the maintenance of a mix of horses and farm <br />animals on property. The lease of property contiguous to the lot of record is eligible to <br />meet acreage requirements provided the lot of record is at least 3.0 acres in size and <br />evidence of a current lease is provided to the City. <br />
