ORDINANCE #94-02 <br /> <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />AN AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 9 WHICH IS KNOWN AS THE ZONING AND <br />SUBDIVISION OF LAND CHAPTER OF THE CITY CODE. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 9, SECTION 9.12 ENTITLED <br />"SIGNS", AND REPEALING THE PREVIOUS SECTION 9.12 ENTITLED <br />"SIGNS". <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey ordains: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. SUMMARY <br /> <br />The following official summary of Ordinance g94-02 has been approved by the City Council of the <br />City of Ramsey as clearly informing the public of the intent and effect of the ordinance: <br /> <br />It is the intent and effect of Ordinance g94-02 to amend the regulations for signs in all districts of <br />the City of Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />A printed copy of Ordinance g94-02 is available for inspection by any person at the Ramsey <br />Municipal Center. <br /> <br />This Ordinance becomes effective upon its passage and thirty (30) days after publication according <br />to law, subject to City Charter, Section 5.07. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. <br /> <br />AMENDMENT <br /> <br />Section 9.12 of the City Code is amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />9.12 SIGNS <br /> <br />9.12.01 Purpose <br /> <br />The purpose of this section is to protect and promote the general welfare, health, safety and order <br />within the City of Ramsey through the establishment of a comprehensive and impartial series of <br />standards, regulations and procedures governing the erection, use and/or display of devices, signs <br />or symbols serving as a visual communicative media to persons situated within or upon public <br />right-of-ways or properties. The provisions of this section are intended to encourage creativity, a <br />reasonable degree of freedom of choice, an opportunity for effective communication and a sense of <br />concern for the visual amenities on the part of those designing and displaying communicative <br />media for the types regulated by this section, while at the same time assuring that the public health <br />and welfare is not endangered. <br /> <br />9.12.02 Definitions <br /> <br />Abandoned Sign means a sign which no longer identifies or advertises a bona fide business, <br />lessor, service, owner, product, or activity, and/or for which no legal owner can be found. <br /> <br />Page 1 of 18 <br /> <br /> <br />
