ORDINANCE NO. 74-/~-.~ <br /> MSEZ TOW S IP <br />ANOKA COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />FOR THE TOWNSHIP OF RAMSEY AND MAKING RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR <br />THE GOVERNMENT OF THE SAME. <br /> <br />The Town Board of Supervisors of the Township of Ramsey ordains: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. ESTABLISHMENT <br /> <br />There is hereby established a Police Department in the Township of Ramsey <br />which shall consist of such number of police officers, with such ranks and <br />titles as may from time to time be authorized by resolution of the Town Board, <br />but which shall initially consist of one police officer to be employed by the <br />Board. The compensation to be paid to such police officer, or officers, shall <br />be fixed by the Town Board. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. BOARD CHAIRMAN <br /> <br />It shall be the duty of the police, under the direction of the Board Chairman <br />and/or his appointed Board Member, to assume proper watches and places <br />of duty and the time he or they shall be on duty, and to discharge the customary <br />duties of a police officer. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. CHIEF <br /> <br />If and when the office of Chief of Police shall be established by the Town <br />Board, he shall have precedence over the police officers and watchmen and <br />they shall at sll times, when on duty, be subject to his command and~control. <br />He shall report to the Town Board at its regular meetings as to the needs of <br />the Department and work performed by the members of the Department. He shall <br />be responsible for the proper training and discipline of the members of the <br />Police Department and may suspend any member for refusal or neglect to obey <br />orders, pending final action by the Town Board on his discharge Or retention. <br />The Town Board may designate one of the members of the- Police Department as <br />acting chief who shall assume all the authority of the Chief in the absence or <br />disability of the Chief. <br /> <br />SECTION 4. DUTIES <br /> <br />It shall be the duty of the police force and of each and every police officer to <br />serve all warrants and processes delivered to such policeman for service in <br />said Township and to diligently inquire into and report to the Board Chairman <br />all violations o[ Township ordinances, violations of criminal laws of the State <br /> <br /> <br />
