ORDINANCE NO. 74-1 <br /> RAMSEY TOWNSHIP <br />ANOKA COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A SYSTEM OF STAGGERED ELECTION TERMS <br />FOR THE TWO NEWLY CREATED SUPERVISORS POSITIONS ON THE RAMSEY <br />TOWN BOARD. <br /> <br />The Town Board of Supervisors of the Township of Ramsey ordains: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. PURPOSE <br /> <br /> The purpose of this ordinance is to provide for a staggered election term <br />schedule for the Town Board of Supervisors. This term schedule is necessary <br />because of the two new supervisors added to the Town Board as a result of <br />Chapter 418 of First Regular Session of the 1973 Minnesota State Legislature. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. TERM SCHEDULE <br /> <br /> In order to get on the regular schedule of electing no more <br />supervisor~at any election, the supervisor receiving the highest number of votes <br />in the March, 1974 election shall receive a three (3) year term. The supervisor <br />receiving the second highest number of votes in the March, 1974 election shall <br />receive a two (2) year term. The supervisor receiving the third highest number <br />of votes in the March, 1974 election shall receive a one (1) year term. The terms <br />o£ the supervisors elected in 1972 and 1973 are not affected by this ordinance <br />and their successors shall be chosen at the March 197S and March, 1976 elections, <br />respectively. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. SEPARABILITY <br /> <br /> If any chapter, section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or portion <br />of this code is for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by any Court of <br />competent jurisdiction, such portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and <br />independent provision and such holding shall not affect the validity of the re- <br />maining portions hereof. <br /> <br />SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE <br /> <br /> This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the passage <br />and publication. <br /> <br />PASSED by the Town Board this 19th day of February, 1974. <br /> <br />T~///~s hip Clerk <br /> <br />Town Board Chairman <br /> <br /> <br />
