PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE CITY OF RAMSEY ANOKA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA The Ramsey Public Works Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, September 21, 1999, at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. Members Present: Chairperson Gerald Zimmerman Councilmember Terry Hendriksen Councilmember Margaret Connolly (Alternate) Also Present: City Engineer Steve Jankowski Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Dean Kapler City Administrator James Norman Public Works Supervisor Grant Riemer Parks/Utilities Supervisor Mark Boos CALLTO ORDER Chairperson Zimmerman called the regular meeting of the Public Works Committee to order at 5:00 p.m. CITIZEN INPUT Rob and Joyce Kalstabakken, 5571 Sunwood Drive Ramsey, stated that they were confused after the last Council meeting as to what was going to happen with the sidewalk/trail on Sunwood Drive. They explained that they would prefer not to have a trail, but if the City would decide in the future to put a trail on Sunwood Drive they don't want to have to go through all of the discussions again to get the trail on the south side of Sunwood Drive. The Committee discussed in length the trail possibilities for the area. Councilmember Connolly stated that she would like review the possibility of a trail being placed on Sunwood Drive in a few years, if they were to decide not to do the trail with the Sunwood Drive extension. Councilmember Hendriksen suggested the possibility of a trail on the south side of Sunwood Drive, but stopping the trail at Erkium Street and then turn the trail to the park. Councilmember Hendriksen requested that the Park and Recreation Commission review the possible options for a trail. Public Works Committee/September 21, 1999 Page 1 of 9
