CHAPTER 9 COMMITTEE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />The Ramsey Chapter 9 Committee conducted a work session on Tuesday, April 25, 2002, at the <br />Ramsey Fire Station Number II, 15050 Armstrong Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br />Members Present: <br />Members Absent: <br />Also Present: <br />Councilmember Susan Anderson <br />Councilmember Terry Hendriksen <br />Planning Commission Member Michael Reeve <br />Planning Commission Eric Watson <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br />Mayor Tom Gamec <br />Principal Planner Patrick Trudgeon <br />Community Development Assistant Megan Wald <br />Hoisington Koegler Consultant Loren Gordon <br />The Chapter 9 Committee was called to order at 6:41 p.m. <br />DISCUSSION <br />1) Town Center <br />Hoisington Koegler Consultant Loren Gordon gave a presentation on how to regulate the <br />development of the Town Center site by showing some examples of how other communities have <br />developed their town centers. He explained that current City Code does not address the <br />development envisioned for the town center site, therefore the Ramsey City Code will need to <br />accommodate rural development, suburban development and traditional development. As the <br />code pertains to the town center area, it will have to be something that can deal with things that <br />might change over time. The City needs to establish principals that can guide them during the <br />process. <br />Councilmember Kurak inquired as to how the City could regulate how a district will look. <br />Mr. Gordon replied that the City should have regulations written into City Code. He reviewed <br />the approach the different communities took to get to the point of development. <br />Councilmember Kurak noted that it was very likely that the City will have one developer <br />developing the entire town center site. <br />Chapter 9/April 25, 2002 <br />Page 1 of 9 <br />
