<br /> <br /> <br />APRIUMAY 1991, VOLUME &, NO.4 <br /> <br /> <br />AMERICAN RED <br />CROSS RECOGNITION <br />PLAQUE GIVEN <br />Presenting the plaque to Art Dusslls <br />Sandy Stoener, DIrector of the SL Paul <br />Blood Bank. <br /> <br />Art Dussl, a Ramsey resident and retired principal of the Anoka Senior High School, was <br />presented with a plaque at the April 9, 1991 City Council meeting in recognition of his years of <br />service with the Anoka County Branch of the American Red Cross. At the meeting to honor Mr. <br />Dussl were John Weaver, Chairman of the Anoka County Branch of the American Red Cross, Ann <br />McDonald, Branch Manager of the Anoka County Branch of the American Red Cross, and Sandy <br />Stoener, Director of the St. Paul Blood Bank. While at the Anoka Senior High School, Mr. Dussl <br />developed the Blood Bank Program which was the first in the State of Minnesota. His work was <br />very influential and has spread nation-wide. He is now writing a program to be used nationally by <br />the American Red Cross for high school Blood Bank projects. Mr. Dussl is making this his single <br />focus of volunteer efforts and the American Red Cross thanks him for his dedicated work. <br /> <br />COMPOST SITES TO OPEN FOR THE SEASON ON APRIL 1 <br /> <br />Are you doing your spring cleaning in your yard and don't know what to do with last year's <br />leaves and grass? Well, residents of Ramsey have the following environmentally sound <br />practices available. Anoka County operates 2 compost sites located at the Bunker Hills Park <br />and at the Chain of Lakes Park in Lino Lakes. The following hours for residents: <br /> <br />Monday, Wednesday and Friday 7:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.(or sunset if earlier) <br />Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. <br />Sunday Noon - 5:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Both sites will be closed on Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and <br />Thanksgiving Day. <br /> <br />There Is no charge to Anoka County Residents to use this site. Residents must debag <br />their material <br />Call Brad Relds at 421-4760 for more information. <br /> <br /> <br />RAMSEY SENIOR CLUB <br /> <br />The Ramsey Senior Club met on April 3rd <br />at the Ramsey City Hall. We had a very large <br />group this month - nearly all of the members <br />attended. <br />Another new members was accepted, <br />Hilda Hoveland. Welcome to the group. <br />Mary Guentzel presented a certificate from <br />the Minnesota Senior Federation Metropolitan <br />Region to the club for our attendance and <br />membership. <br />A short meeting was held after which the <br />Ramsey Senior drove to the Trickey House; <br />located near Elk River on Highway 10 by the <br />weigh station. We then toured the Alexander <br />Ramsey House.
