PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
PUBLIC HEARING
CITY OF RAMSEY
ANOKA COUNTY
STATE OF MINNESOTA

The Ramsey Planning and Zoning Commission conducted a public hearing on
Tuesday, February 2, 1988 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen
Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota regarding Mr. Roger Suter's request for a
conditional use permit to dismantle buses.

Members Present:

Mr. Gerald Zimmerman, Chairman
Mr. Terry Hendriksen
Mr. Charles LaDue
Mr. Jim Howell

Also Present:

Community Development Director Anne Norris
City Attorney William Goodrich

Members Absent:

Mr. Jim Holm
Mr. Michael Terry
Mr. Roy Shumway

CALL TO ORDE~

Chairman Zimmerman called the public hearing to order at 8:13 p.m.

CITIZEN INPUT

Mr. Roger Surer stated that the buses are currently being stored on the
Dickenson property on the south side of Hwy. #10 and he is proposing to
move them to 14050 Basalt Street for dismantling.

Robert Brown - Design Products, Inc. - 14161 Basalt Street - Stated that a
bus dismantling operation across the street would be a detriment to his
business and give his customers a bad impression; that Ramsey does not need
another mess; Basalt already hosts the biggest mess in Ramsey.

Ms. Norris noted that Mr. Brown's comments refer to the property just west
of Sauter's and that matter is at some point in the court process.

Ed Hamilton - 6615 Hwy. #10 N.W. - Stated he owns a 10 acre parcel adjacent
to 14050 Basalt Street; that the subject property was unsightly when
Dickenson's operation was active; will there be any screening with Mr.
Suter's project? Mr. Hamilton stated he would prefer a temporary bus
dismantling business to an asphalt company; whatever is allowed will be a
detriment to his property.

Mr. Suter stated that he feels his operation could be completed and cleaned
up by May 1 but it shouldn't take more than one year.

Jerry Martin - AHSO Company - Suggested that Mr. Suter proceed with the
Planning & Zoning Public Hearing/February 2, 1988
