PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION <br />PUBLIC HEARING <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Planning and Zoning Commission conducted a public hearing on <br />Tuesday, February 2, 1988 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen <br />Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota regarding Mr. Roger Suter's request for a <br />conditional use permit to dismantle buses. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mr. Gerald Zimmerman, Chairman <br />Mr. Terry Hendriksen <br />Mr. Charles LaDue <br />Mr. Jim Howell <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Community Development Director Anne Norris <br />City Attorney William Goodrich <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />Mr. Jim Holm <br />Mr. Michael Terry <br />Mr. Roy Shumway <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDE~ <br /> <br />Chairman Zimmerman called the public hearing to order at 8:13 p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />Mr. Roger Surer stated that the buses are currently being stored on the <br />Dickenson property on the south side of Hwy. #10 and he is proposing to <br />move them to 14050 Basalt Street for dismantling. <br /> <br />Robert Brown - Design Products, Inc. - 14161 Basalt Street - Stated that a <br />bus dismantling operation across the street would be a detriment to his <br />business and give his customers a bad impression; that Ramsey does not need <br />another mess; Basalt already hosts the biggest mess in Ramsey. <br /> <br />Ms. Norris noted that Mr. Brown's comments refer to the property just west <br />of Sauter's and that matter is at some point in the court process. <br /> <br />Ed Hamilton - 6615 Hwy. #10 N.W. - Stated he owns a 10 acre parcel adjacent <br />to 14050 Basalt Street; that the subject property was unsightly when <br />Dickenson's operation was active; will there be any screening with Mr. <br />Suter's project? Mr. Hamilton stated he would prefer a temporary bus <br />dismantling business to an asphalt company; whatever is allowed will be a <br />detriment to his property. <br /> <br />Mr. Suter stated that he feels his operation could be completed and cleaned <br />up by May 1 but it shouldn't take more than one year. <br /> <br />Jerry Martin - AHSO Company - Suggested that Mr. Suter proceed with the <br /> Planning & Zoning Public Hearing/February 2, 1988 <br /> <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
