PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION/ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Planning and Zoning Commission and the Economic Development <br />Commission conducted a joint meeting on Wednesday, April 27, 1988 at the <br />Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota to <br />receive a presentation from Atlas Incinerators, Inc. regarding their <br />proposal to locate their corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility <br />in Ramsey. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mr. Don Greenberg, EDC Chairman <br />Mr. Jack Ippel, EDC <br />Mr. Steve Gorecki, EDC <br />Mr. Bob Muller, EDC <br />Mr. Glen Hardin, EDC <br />Mr. Ken Wagner, EDC <br />Mr. Gerald Zimmerman, P&Z Chairman <br />Mr. Jim Holm, P&Z <br />Mr. Michael Terry, P&Z <br />Mr. Charles LaDue, P&Z <br />Mr. Roy Shumway, P&Z <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Community Development Director Anne Norris <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />Mr. Darryl Fults, EDC <br />Mr. Bernie Vevea, EDC <br />Mr. Tom Kurak, EDC <br />Mr. Jim Howell, P&Z <br />Mr. Terry Hendriksen, P&Z <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />EDC Chairman Greenberg called the joint meeting to order at 8:13 p.m. <br /> <br />P~ESENTATION <br /> <br />Mr. Robert Labat - Atlas Incinerators, Inc. - Stated that Atlas <br />Incinerators designs and manufactures incinerators and fluid gas equipment. <br />Atlas has grown into an international company. Atlas' customers are <br />concerned with disposing of their waste properly and Atlas is trying to <br />help solve the problem by designing equipment that can reduce the need for <br />landfills and complement recycling. Atlas is not involved with <br />incinerating municipal waste; Atlas builds on- site custom incinerators for <br />it's customers to install at their sites. Atlas has outgrown it's present <br />production facility and must relocate by the fall of 1988. Atlas was <br />considering locating in Elk River but got caught up in the backlash of the <br />RDF plant. Atlas' major business is manufacturing incinerators. In order <br />to keep designing and updating state-of-the art equipment, any business has <br />to do continuous research and development.
