PAID RAMSEY, MN 55303 Anoka, Minnesota Permit No. 131 RESIDENT CITY OF RAMSEY MINNESOTA 55303 For many residents of Ramsey, Saturday, April 9th just seemed like another blustery winter day. But for the people who were gathered at City Hall it seemed more like a day to think of kids running through a park, climbing on playground equipment, or playing soccer, baseball, football or other activities rather than think of snow. A brief ceremony was held in the Council Chambers. Approximately 25 people braved the weather to thank Federal Cartridge Corporation for their generous gift of approximately 50 acres of land. This land is located north of 161st Ave. and east of County Road #83 and is to be used for park development. It is a beautiful piece of property surrounded and intersected with pine trees. The property has the potential to be developed into a v~ry nice park. Mayor To. Ga.ec thanked Federal Cartridge Corporation for their generous donation. He also read a resolution passed by the City Council which thanked Federal Cartridge for their donation. Dennis Donovan represented the Park Board. He referred to several posters that contrasted the undeveloped TODAY CUB SCOUT GARAGE SALE Ramsey Pack 362 Cub Scouts will ~e holding a gigantic garage sale at the Ramsey City Hall on Saturday, April 23rd, from 9am. -5pm. In conjunction with the garage sale, there will be a bake sale and plant sale. The money made from these fundraisers goes towards the cost of awards and outings for the Cub Scouts throughout thp. year. -Kathi Peterson Attn: 4th Graders On Monday, May 16th, at 7PM we will be having our annual Sandburg Orientation Night for all 4th graders and their parents. Jack Beissel then spoke on behalf of the Ramsey Youth Athletic Association (RYAA). He stated it very well when he mentioned that even though the Council, the Park Board and RYAA thanked Federal Cartridge, it was really the youth of Ramsey that thanked Federal the most. Bill Fournier, Director of Corporate Facili- ties, represented Federal Cartridge Corporation. He presented the deed for the property and in turn received the Council's resolution and a very attractive plaque. Mr. Fournier indicated that he was very glad tG accept Ramsey's thanks on behalf of Federal Cartridge Corporation. He was glad that his corporation could partici- pate in the growth of the City of Ramsey. After the cere.ony, .any people talked and .unched on cookies and doughnuts. Even though the snow was still swirling down outside it was not too surprising that much of the talk centered around kids and outside park activities. -Dennis'Donovan, Park Board Chairman I . RAMSEY Jimmy Brown, of Jimmy B's American, was in a small town in Florida a few years back where people were wearing butoons and cars were sporting stickers proclaiming their love for their City. He thought it was a neat idea and filed it away for future reference. Last month Jimmy decided he was in the right City and the time was right so he took it upon himself to promote Ramsey. Hence the beginning of the I Love Ramsey buttons and bumper stic- kers. He shared his idea wi th Bob Muller of Bob's Super Valu and Bob thought it was a good idea so the order was increased. I Once again there will be a Ramsey Clean-up Day. Ra.sey residents will be will be able to du.p trash, brush, etc. (no tires) at the Landfill between the hours of 10 and 3 p.. Here is the chance to clean up around your yard and bring it to the landfill with 10 CHARGE to Ramsey residents. PLEASE USE THE TOP PART OF THIS ARTICLE TO GET YOU INTO THE LANDFILL AT NO CHARGE. Place it in your car of truck window. If anyone or Organization would like to help with this event please call City Hall - 427-1410. We would also like to thank Waste Management for their cooperation in having this Clean-Up Day. -Mayor Gamec BLOOD PRESSURE May is National Blood Pressure month. I am pleased to a~nounce that free blood pressure screening will be available the 1st Wednesday of every month 11:30 to 1:00 pm. at Ramsey City Hall (Lower Level).
