<br />......... - , <br /> <br /> <br />ut <br /> <br /> <br />Volume I Number 3 <br /> <br />MARCH 19,1983 <br /> <br />RAMSEY NEWSLETTER <br /> <br />HAZARDOUS WASTE <br />SITE HEARING <br /> <br />Un March 21, 1983, the Minnesota Waste Man- <br />agement Board will hold Public Hearings at Ipm <br />and 7:30pm in the Ramsey City Hall for the <br />purpose of gathering information on the pro- <br />posed Hazardous Waste Site in the City of <br />Ramsey. <br />ALL RESIDENTS ARE URGED TO ATTEND!!!! I!! <br />The hearing will be held before an Examiner <br />of the Office of Administrative Hearings, <br />Howard L. Kaibel. <br />Information related to the criteria util- <br />izied by the Waste Management Board (MWB) <br />as well as any other information which may <br />assist the WMB in determining whether an <br />area should be included in the final inventory <br />or processing areas may be submitted at the <br />hearing. <br />The WMB is a statutory agency of th! State <br />of Minnesota with responsibility for identi- <br />fying areas which may be used for the estab- <br />lishment of commercial hazardous waste pro- <br />cessing facilities. We are <br />pledging all money made on the car wash to the <br />telethon. The WMB staff is <br />supervised by the chairman. <br />At each of the March 21st hearings, the <br />following procedures shall be followed: <br />1) The hearing will be opened by the hearing <br />examiner who will explain the hearing proce- <br />dures. <br />2) The WMB staff will introduce the juris- <br />dictional documents, the WMB criteria, and ths <br />report containg the basis for proposing the <br />area for inclusion in the Board's inventory. <br />3) The WMB staff will briefly s~..arize the <br />basis for including the area in the inventory; <br />g) Me.bers of the public will be given an op- <br />portuni ty to make oral statements, to offer <br />written documents into the record and to <br /> <br />direct questions to the WMB staff. Represent- <br />atives of the WMB staff may address questions <br />to members of the public. <br />5) The hearing examiner may exclude testimony <br />which is irrelevant, immaterial, or unduly re- <br />petitious. In addition, the hearing examiner <br />may disallow questioning which is irrelevant, <br />immaterial, unduly repetitious, argumentative, <br />harassing, or adversarial in nature. <br />6) Pursuant to Minn. Stat. # 624.72 (1982), nQ <br />person shall interfer with the conduct of, or <br />disrupt or threaten interference with or dis- <br />ruption of the hearing. In the event of any <br />interference or disruption or threat thereof. <br />the hearing exa.iner .ay take appropriate <br />action. <br />7) Following the end or the nearing. .e.ber~ ~ <br />the public will have seven workins da,s in <br /> <br />con't on page 3 <br /> <br />FAMILY FUN DAY <br /> <br />Ramsey's annual Family Fun Day will be <br />held Saturday, April 16th from 11 to 3 <br />pm. at Ramsey Elementary School. <br />Itls carnival time in the good old west <br />again. Put on your western duds and get ready <br />to have a fun day with the whole family. <br />Admission is ten cents per ticket. There will <br />be games and prizes, movies, pony rides and <br />much more. <br />A well supplied mercantile will feature <br /> <br />craft items, baked goods and other fun ite.s <br />to purchase. Concessions include pop, popcorn <br />cotton candy and a low priced lunch menu. <br />With generous contributions from area <br />businesses as well as time and talent from <br />volunteers, Family Fun Day '83 should be a- <br />nother great success. Proceeds from this <br />event, as in the past, will be used for <br />the benefit of Ramsey Students. <br /> <br />-Vickie Reinkinq <br /> <br />Pancake Breakfast <br /> <br />The Ramsey Youth Athletic Association (RYAA) <br />will hold its fourth annual Pancake Breakfast <br />on March 27th from 6am-2pm.. The site of the <br />breakfast has been moved to the Ramsey City <br />Hall. <br />Proceeds from this event benefit all of the <br />youth programs sponsored by the RYAA.
