III

NEWSLETTER!!

Dr. Andberg will be at the Town Hall to conduct a dog clinic on Sep-
tember 25th from 6:00 to e:oo. We are trying an evening clinic to see
if these hours would be more convenient for our dog owners than a Sat-
urday. Be sure to remember this date and time if your dog needs shots
or a license, as they will be issued at this time also. Otherwise
you can obtain a dog license at the Town Hall any day but you must have
your rabies certificate to present in order to obtain your license.

Residents of Ramsey Township are reminded that dogs require a license.
Dogs that are outside of your own personal property are liable to be
picked up. The dog catcher has been instructed to pick up dogs not
on their own premises because of the number of complaints we have re-
ceived recently.

We would like to remind all new residents to be sure to check with
your fire insurance company about coverage for fire calls. Any fires
that occur are the responsibility of the property owner. If fire calls
are not paid within six months, they may be assessed on the tax rolls.

Incorporation: The City of Anoka has passed a resolution to annex a
large portion of the southeast part of Ramsey which would encompass
the landfill and the Ramsey Town Hall and also a large healthy portion
of our industrial and commercial property. We lost considerable sums
of money for road construction due to the delaying of our incorporation.
Ramsey's first hearing for incorporation before the I~~C was September
5, 1972. Because of the challenges by the City of Anoka the MMC has
delayed giving Ramsey Township village status. Ramsey officials have
continually requested a hearing to determine Ramsey's governmental
status. People who Ovffi land in the area which Anoka wants to annex,
may wish to get more facts as to what would happen to their taxes and
investigate this more thoroughly. It might be well for our citizens
to know that for a house which is valued at $25,000, Ramsey Township
only gets $27.60. Following is a tax comparison for a $2e,000 home
with a homestead tax base in the following areas:

Grow !vip. - $555.ee Ramsey Twp. - $553.67 Burns Twp. - $552.02
City of Anoka - $694.03

Operation Identification is going fine. We have many homes that are
now using this program and hope many more people will come in to get
a number and use the engraver. We now have eight engravers and they
are in use all the time. It has cut robbery way down in the Township.
