AUGUST 1992, VOLUME 7, NO.8 r:s PRIMARY ELECTION DAY Tuesday, September 15, 1992 ~ Polls Open 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ~ Voter Eligibility: You are eligible to vote if you are 18 years of age or older, a citizen of the United States and have resided in the State of Minnesota for 20 days. You may register to vote on the day of the Election with one of the following required identification: 1. Valid driver's license or learner's permit (or receipt for either) showing correct/current address in the precinct. 2. Valid Minnesota non-qualified card (or receipt) showing correct/current address in the precinct (carried mainly by senior citizens and non-drivers). 3. Notice of ineffective registration showing the address of the voter in the precinct. 4. Valid registration in the same precinct (applies only if the voter has moved within the same precinct). 5. College students may use any of the following which show their address in the precinct: . Current student fee statement . Current student identification card . Current student registration card 6. Oath of a registered voter in the same precinct or a voter who registered on Election Day with proper identification. If you have previously registered, there is no need to go through the process again unless you have failed to vote once in four preceding years, moved to a different address or have changed your name. Where to Vote: The City of Ramsey is divided into the five precincts shown on the map on Page 8. Residents vote at the following locations: Precinct 1A - Ramsey Elementary School, 15000 Nowthen Blvd. NW. Precinct 1 B - Ramsey Municipal Center (lower level), 15153 Nowthen Blvd. NW. Precinct 2 - Ramsey Municipal Center (upper level), 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W. Precinct 3A - Park Center (Central Park), 7925 - 161 st Avenue NW. Precinct 3B . St. Anthony Gun Club, 16128 Variolite Street NW. Absentee Ballots: Absentee ballots are now available either by telephoning, writing or faxing requests to the Anoka County Elections Office. This year's Primary and General Elections mark the first time residents will be allowed to use absentee ballots previously reserved only for voters who were unable to appear at the polls. An experimental provision authorized by the State of Minnesota allows counties to PRIMARY ELECna DAY CONTINUED 011 PAGE 2 TELECOMMUNICATIONS DEVICE FOR THE DEAF (TDD) AT CITY HALL The City of Ramsey is committed to making needed accommodations for individuals with hearing and speech disabilities in order to facilitate their rights as citizens to basic City services and needed information as well as to assure their ability to be involved in decision making processes and City government. Effective immediately you can reach the City of Ramsey using a Telecommunications Device for the Deaf (TOO). The number to call is 427-8591. This machine directly connects to the telephone, reducing background noise interference, and is equipped with a printer which prints both sides of the conversation. It also uses a built-in voice to announce that you are calling by TOO. If you would like more information about the TOO machine, please contact Kathy Johnson at City Hall at 427-1410 or 427-8591 TOO. FILINGS FOR MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL SEATS Notice is hereby given that the City of Ramsey will accept affidavits of candidacy for the office of Mayor for a two year term and two Council member at large seats, each for a four year term. Such affidavits will be accepted from Tuesday, August 25, 1992 to Tuesday, September 8, 1992 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Ramsey Municipal Center. A fee of $5.00 must be paid at the time of filing. r
