SUMMARY AND EXPLANATION OF PORTIONS OF RAMSEY'S SNOWMOBILE ORDINANCE The followinQ is a summary and explanation of the snowmobile ordinance. Please come to the Ramsev Municioal Center to view the ordinance in its entiretv. THE FOLLOWING AREAS ARE OPEN FOR PUBLIC USE OF SNOWMOBILES: 1. Private property owned by snowmobile operator or by snowmobile owner. 2. Other private property with WRITTEN permission of the landowner. 3. The bottom of and outside slope of ditches along State and County highways as allowed by Minnesota Statutes. ~-~ity streets. By definition, the STREET includes the boulevard and/or ditch area. ,-lXCEPT, repeat, EXCEPT in the MUSA (shown on map posted at the City Hall) snowmobiles may only be operated on the ROADWAY, along the farthest right hand side and in single file. The ROADWAY by definition is that part of a street that is designed for and used by vehicles. It DOES NOT include boulevards and ditches. 5. Any designated snowmobile trail. At the present time, Ramsey does not have any snowmobile trails. THE FOLLOWING AREAS ARE NOT OPEN FOR PUBLIC USE OF SNOWMOBILES (Please note that this list Is not all Inclusive and operators should refer to State Statutes and manuals for regulations concerning State lands and waters): 1. City and County parks and trails unless designated for snowmobiles by sign postings. 2. Upon the ROADWAYS or inside slope of ditches of State and County highways. 3. In the median (center) area of any divided highway. PLEASE TAKE NOTE THAT MINNESOTA STATUTE 84.90 PROHIBITS ANY PERSON FROM TRESPASSING ON PRIVATE PROPERTY WITHOUT PERMISSION. YOU NEED NOT BE TOLD TO DEPART FROM THE PROPERTY IN ORDER FOR CHARGES TO BE FILED. SIMPLY BEING THERE WITHOUT PERMISSION CONSTITUTES A MISDEMEANOR CRIME PUNISHABLE BY 90 DAYS IN JAIL AND/OR A $700 FINE. HOURS OF OPERATION: YOU CANNOT OPERATE SNOWMOBILES IN THE CITY OF RAMSEY: OndayS through Thursdays from 11 :00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Saturdays from 1 :00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. (Fridays you may operate from 8:00 a.m. until 1 :00 a.m. on Saturday and likewise, you can operate from 8:00 a.m. on Saturday until 1 :00 a.m. on Sunday.) Continued on page 5 DECEMBER 1993, VOLUME 8, 110. 12 RINK ATTENDANT The City of Ramsey is currently seeking applicants to fill the part-time seasonal positions of Rink Attendant. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age for this temporary position lasting approximately 10 weeks. Rate of pay is $5.00 per hour with the schedule beginning approximately December 15, 1993. During winter vacation the rinks will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., depending on weather conditions. Non-holiday hours are afternoon and evenings, beginning at 3:30 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Applications can be picked up at Ramsey Municipal Building, 15153 Nowthen Blvd., Ramsey. Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. Monday, December 6, 1993. Interviews will take place the week of December 6th. NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING Notice is hereby given that the City of Ramsey Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, December 7, 1993 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, MN 55303. The purpose of the hearing is to consider amending Section 9.12 (Signs) of the Ramsey City Code. All interested persons are invited to attend the hearing and comment on the proposed amendment. Copies of the proposed sign ordinance are available upon request at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.w., Ramsey, MN. Written comments are welcome and shall be addressed to the Ramsey Planning and Zoning Commission, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.w., Ramsey, MN 55303. Written comments shall be received at the above address prior to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 7, 1993. CITY OFFICES WILL BE CLOSED ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 24TH IN OBSERVANCE OF CHRISTMAS AND ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 31ST IN OBSERVANCE OF NEW YEAR'S DAY.
