In the previous issue of the Ramsey Resident,
information was published regarding the snowmobile
ordinance. That article clearly explained the City Code as ~
relates to the operation of snowmobiles. This article is a
reminder that the amended ordinance dealing with the
operation of snowmobiles in certain parts of the city and the
age of operators went into effect on December 12, 1993.
Enforcement emphasis is going to be placed on illegal
operation on private property and on proper registration of
snowmobiles. If the registration numbers and DNR sticker
aren't up to date and properly posted on the machines,
citations will be issued. If there is a problem, In the
officer's viewpoint, in determining proper ownership at the
scene of the stop; the machine may be towed and held for
proof of ownership. Snowmobiles that have an obl~erated
serial number or with the serial plate missing will be towed
for further investigation. .
If you live in the MUSA area (generally speaking, that
is the area of the city served by City water and sewer but
also includes areas lying on the fringes of those areas), be
sure to check the official City MUSA Map at City Hall and
. read carefully the ordinance to become familiar with the
special rules for the MUSA area.
