RAMSEY BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND APPRECIATION DAY SET FOR AUGUST 27 I 1993 Ramsey Mayor Jim Gilbertson has declared August 27, 1993 as the 5th Annual Business Development and Appreciation Day. This event will again be sponsored by the City of Ramsey, the Anoka Area Chamber of Commerce and the Ramsey Economic Development Commission. Events will include an 18 hole scramble golf tournament, social hour; dinner and awards ceremony. Everyone is invited whether or not they are local business owners. Those who would like to participate but do not golf may reserve a seat for dinner only. AUGUST 1993, VOLUME 8, NO.8 ANOKA COUNTY TO TEST RURAL QUALITY WATER Anoka County will conduct an environmental assessment of domestic wells in the northern two-thirds of Anoka County beginning this summer and continuing through the fall. The assessment, taking place in the more rural regions of Anoka County where private wells supply the majority of household drinking water, will assess the quality of water supplies to residents and the safety of these water supplies. In addition, the study will help determine the need for supplementary dietary fluoride and measure lead levels in private wells. The research project is funded by an Agricultural Preserves grant and will include up to 400 household wells selected at random. Property owners will be contacted this summer to arrange for data and sample collection. Communities included in the domestic well analysis include Andover, Bethel, Centerville, East Bethel, Ham Lake, Uno Lakes, Ramsey and St. Francis and the townships of Burns, Columbus, Unwood and Oak Grove. ATTENTION RAMSEY RESIDENTS Park and Recreation Commission The City of Ramsey is currently seeking a candidate to fill a vacancy on its Park and Recreation Commission. The primary objective of the Commission is to monitor and reflect the attitudes and concerns of the citizens of Ramsey relative to the park system and recreation programs, and to advise the City Council of citizen attitudes and policy matters relevant to the park and recreation function in Ramsey. The Park and Recreation Commission meets on the second Thursday of the month at 6:00 p.m. Ramsey residents interested in serving on the Commission are requested to submit a letter of application by 5:00 p.m. by Friday, August 6, 1993 to Kay McAloney, Personnel Coordinator at Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota 55303. Letters of application should contain the applicant's name, address, telephone number, work experience, education, and any experience in municipal affairs. In addition, applicants should include a statement listing their reasons for seeking appointment to the Park and Recreation Commission. The position is not salaried; however, compensation for incidental expenses is provided. f-
