JUNE 1996, VOLUME 11, NO.4 10TH ANNUAL RAMSEY LION'S : COMMUNITY PICNIC = ~:: This year's picnic is being held in conjunction with J the Ramsey Business Expo at Central Park. It will be ::: held on Saturday, June 1st, from 3:30 - 9:00 p.m. The : Community Picnic will have the Fun Walk/Run Mile in : Central Park as in past years, but also a new and exciting ::: 4 Mile Country Walk/Run that will benefit the Ramsey ::: playground. :: The 4-Mile Country Walk/Run will take place on J June 1 at 2:00 p.m. All interested walkers/runners will :: start at Ramsey Elementary School and finish 4 miles :' later at Central Park. There will be a police escort and :: water stops along the route. Participants will receive : computerized results at the finish line, provided by :: Apple Raceberry Jam. A shuttle bus will be available ::: from 2: 15 to 4:00 p.m. to return participants back to :~: Ramsey Elementary School, or participants can stay and : take part in the Community Picnic and Business Expo. J All profits from this walk/race will be donated : toward Ramsey Elementary School playground. Start Location: Ramsey Elementary School } Finish Location: Central Park . :: For more information, please call 422-7964. ::: For those children interested in the Fun Walk/Run } Mile held inside Central Park, please fill out registration ~:: form below and return to: A TTENTION RAMSEY RESIDENTS PUBLIC HEARING PARKING AND STORING PRIVATE AND COMMERCIAL VEHICLES AND EQUIPMENT IN RESIDENTIAL DISTRICTS The current City Code does not have any restrictions for the parking and storing of private use vehicles and equipment except that only one unlicensed vehicle may be stored outside. Basically, this language means that there is no limit on the number of inoperable or junk vehicles that can be parked outside as long as they have current license plates. With respect to commercial vehicles, the Code states that nothing more than lone-ton commercial vehicle may be stored or parked on a residential parcel. For the past nine months, the Ramsey City Council and the Planning Commission have been working on an ordinance to establish new regulations for the parking and storing of private use and commercial use vehicles and equipment The Planning Commission will be conducting a public hearing on Tuesday, June 4, 1996 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ramsey Municipal Centerregarding the newly drafted ordinance which reads as follows: Section 9.11.10 (Off Street Parking) is hereby amended to include the following language: a. Currently licensed and operable motor vehicles, and one unlicensed and operable motor vehicle, the primary purpose of which is for private transportation or recreational use may be stored in the front yard if on a driveway or in the side or rear yard provided they are parked on a .. prepared surface that consists of either bituminous pavement, concrete, con bit or prepared gravel. b. Equipment, the primary purpose of which is for private or personal! recreational use, may be parked/stored in the front yard if on a driveway or in the side or rear yard. c. .Commercial use motor vehicles and equipment may be parked/stored outside for short-term periods when rendering a service such as loading or unloading or on a routine or regular basis for long terms under the following conditions: 1. The vehicles and/or equipment shall be screened to a degree of75% at ground level view from adjacent properties and public streets 100% of the time while unattended.
