In
1997 the City contracted with the Hoisington
Koegler Group to assist with the planning process.
From September through December, the City
held a community-wide visioning session and
several public meetings so residents could identify
and resolve the most important issues in the City's
future. The City also sponsored a telephone
survey of 400 households to learn about citizens'
feelings and attitudes about the City.
Using all the information gathered, the
consultants prepared a "Vision Statement" and
set of "Guiding Principles" to serve as the overall
framework for what the community wants to be.
Most recently, they've been developing
"concepts" that reflect the community's needs
and desires as expressed in the vision statement.
Some elements represented in the concepts
include land use, Metropolitan Urban Service
Area, transportation routes, a town center
concept, and a bridge over the Mississippi River.
To ensure that citizens can provide input
while the concepts are still in the development
stage, the consultants will present the concepts
to the public on April 9, 1998, at 7:00 p.m. at
Ramsey Community School in the south
cafeteria. Anyone who is interested in the
comprehensive planning process is welcome to
attend the meeting, whether or not they have
attended earlier meetings.
For more information on the meeting or
about the Comprehensive Plan, contact the City
of Ramsey at 427-1.410.
