CITY NEWSLETTER

CLEAN UP GETS UNDERWAY
AFTER MAY STORMS

JUNE 1998, VOLUME 13, NO.5
RAMSEY LIONS HOST
ANNUAL COMMUNITY
PICNIC JUNE 6

For the second year in a row, residents of Ramsey are confronted
with cleaning up in the aftermath of severe storms. High winds and hail
accompanied a May 15 thunderstorm that damaged trees, buildings and
vehicles. The western portion of the City was hardest hit.
Ramsey's Public Works Department is in the process of acquiring
additional equipment and manpower to help with clean up efforts. Clean
up plans and schedules won't be finalized until the first or second week
of June, but the Public Works Department does expect to make one brush
pick up.
Residents located in the area west of Ramsey Boulevard up to its
intersection with County Road #5, then west of County Road #5, should
stack their brush at the end of the road or street, as soon as possible.
Public Works will automatically pick it up sometime after June 7, but
because of the expense will only make one pick up trip in each area.
Property owners will be responsible for disposing of brush that isn't picked
up during that trip.
Residents in other sections of the City who experienced storm
damage can call City Hall at 427-1410 to leave their names, addresses
and phone numbers. A Public Works employee will visit the site to
determine if the amount of brush warrants a special pick up trip.
The City is considering allowing an "open bum day" such as the
one last August, so residents can dispose of brush. If an open bum is
scheduled, residents will be notified through the Ramsey Resident
newsletter and Cable Television Channel 16.
As this newsletter goes to print, Anoka County has no plans to
provide free disposal sites for brush as was done last summer.
Public Works staff estimates that once clean up efforts get
underway, it will take approximately seven or eight weeks to complete
brush pickup, chipping and final disposal.

VOICE MAIL AVAILABLE
AFTER HOURS AT CITY HALL

The City of Ramsey's voice mail system allows residents the
opportunity to leave a message at City Hall during non-business hours
by calling 427 -1410 before 8 a.m. or after 5 p.m. If you choose to leave
a message, your call will be returned the following business day. This
number should not be used for emergencies.

Once again, the Ramsey Lions are
hosting a Community Picnic at Central Park.
This year's event is scheduled for Saturday, June
6, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. All City residents
are welcome to attend this event, which features
something for every member of the family.
Special attractions include:

Rides and Games of Chance
Petting Zoo
RY AA Baseball Tournament
Fire Department Exhibition
Police Department EXhibititiLon
Live Entertainment :?z,
Food and Beverages .

All kids, 12 and under, will receive a
free hot dog and pop, courtesy of the Lions.
Many of the scheduled events happen at varying
times (e.g. base ball tournament will be all day
while the rides will be from 3:00 p.m. to dusk).
Residents are encouraged to attend this
community event and see how the Ramsey Fire
Department saves lives and how the Ramsey
Lions serve the community throughout the year.

INSIDE..... .
