PUBLIC HEARING
BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
CITY OF RAMSEY
ANOKA COUNTY
STATE OF MINNESOTA

The Ramsey Board of Adjustment conducted a public hearing on Tuesday, May 5, 1998, at the
Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota, to hear input
regarding a request for a variance to minimum lot size in the rural service area; case of John
Gobernatz.

Members Present:

Chairperson Benjamin Deemer
Board Member Leo Anderson
Board Member David Bawden
Board Member Sharon Jensen
Board Member Charles LaDue
Board Member Michael Terry
Board Member Joe Wivoda

Also Present:

Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik
Community Development Assistant Sean Walther

CALL TO ORDER

Chairperson Deemer called the public hearing to order at 7:38 p.m.

PRESENTATION

Zoning Administrator Frolik stated Mr. Gobernatz submitted a request for variance to the
minimum lot size requirements to subdivide two lots from his 35 acre parcel. He previously gave
two of his four children 2.5 acre home sites in 1989. At that time, 2.5 acres was the minimum lot
size. He is proposing to give the last two children the same amount of property that the first two
received. Although Mr. Gobernatz's proposal complies with the 4 in 40 density rule, it does not
comply with the 10 acre minimum lot size requirement.

Zoning Administrator Frolik stated Mr. Gobematz would continue to farm and reside in his home
on the remaining property.

CITIZEN INPUT

There was none.

Public Hearing/Board of Adjustment/May 5, 1998
Page 1 of 2
