FINANCE COMMITTEE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Finance Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, September 8, <br />1998, at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, <br />Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Councilmember Carolyn Beahen <br />Councilmember Natalie Haas Steffen <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator James E. Norman <br />Finance Officer Diana Lund <br />Director of Public Works Dean Kapler <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Councilmember Beahen called the regular meeting of the Finance Committee to order at <br />6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />Consensus was to approve the agenda as presented. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE BUSINESS: <br /> <br />Case #1: <br /> <br />Adopt Resolution Approving Proposed Maximum 1999 Payable Tax <br />Levy and Scheduling Budget Public Hearing Dates <br /> <br />Finance Officer Lund presented information based on the levy limits as certified by the <br />Minnesota Department of Revenue. The debt service levy remains outside of the levy <br />limits as certified. The proposed tax levies are as follows: General Fund Levy - <br />$2,439,537 and the Debt Service Levy - $6,793 for a total proposed levy for 1999 of <br />$2,446,330. She noted that the proposed levy can always be reduced, however it cannot <br />be increased without "higher" level approval through an appeals process.
