COMPREHENSIVE PLAN WORKSHOP <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey held a Comprehensive Plan Workshop on Tuesday, March 17, 1998, at the <br />Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW. Ramsey. Minnesota, for the purpose <br />of Council and Commissioners to receive a general overview of the concepts. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember Natalie Haas Steffen <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br />City Administrator James E. Norman <br /> <br />Fire Chief/Director of Public Works Dean Kapler <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Mark Boos <br />Environmental Specialist Bruce Bacon <br />City Engineer Steve Jankowski <br />Community Development Assistant Sean Walther <br />City Attorney William Goodrich <br />Sharon Jensen, Planning Commission <br />David Kent, Economic Development Commission <br />Tim Vogt, Charter Commission <br />Tom and Patti Kurak, Residents <br />Fred Hoisington, Hoisington Koegler Group, Inc. <br />Brad Scheib, Hoisington Koegler Group, Inc. <br />Amy Bower, Hoisington Koegler Group, Inc. <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the work session to order at 7:08 p.m. <br /> <br />WORK SESSION <br /> <br />Brad Scheib, Hoisington Koegler Group, Inc., stated that two concepts will be presented and that <br />his firm is looking for input and feedback. He summarized the Comprehensive Plan thus far. <br />The concepts incorporate issues, concerns and ideas from the visioning session, the special <br />interest meetings, the community survey, and the focus group meetings. Agreement was reached <br />in areas such as: a desire to protect natural resources and preserve the rural character of the <br />community, the need to upgrade T.H. #47, the need for a new bridge crossing over the <br />Mississippi River, the desire to improve the image of Highway #10, the extension of urban <br />services westerly along Highway #10 for commercial and industrial uses, the need for new <br />development to be sensitive to existing development, and the need for life-cycle housing. <br /> <br />Amy Bower, Hoisington Koegler Group, Inc., described the elements that were common to both <br />concepts and that they attempt to illustrate the desired vision for the future community.
