PUBLIC HEARING <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Planning Commission conducted a public hearing on Tuesday, February 3, 1998, at the <br />Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota to hear input <br />regarding a request for a Conditional Use Permit to Operate a Two-Family Dwelling Unit in the <br />Single-Family District; Case of Scott and Gwyn Simpson. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Chairperson David Bawden <br />Commissioner Benjamin Deemer <br />Commissioner Charles LaDue <br />Commissioner Michael Terry <br />Commissioner Bradley Thorud <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />Commissioner Sharon Jensen <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik <br />Community Development Assistant Sean Walther <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Chairperson Bawden convened the public hearing at 7:31 p.m. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Frolik stated a letter was received from Susan Hamilton and James Donovan <br />in opposition of the operation of a duplex in the Single Family neighborhood. <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Frolik indicated the property is zoned Single Family Residential and stated the <br />Simpson's purchased the property with the intent of obtaining a conditional use permit to operate the <br />home as a legal two family rental unit. <br /> <br />Ms. Simpson submitted a letter to the Commission. She stated they have lived across the street from <br />the residence for the past eight years and indicated it had always been rental property. The Simpson's <br />purchased the property in June, 1997, with the intent of obtaining a Conditional Use Permit and <br />renting both units. She indicated the Anoka County Assessor identified the property as a duplex, not <br />a Single Family dwelling. She explained that the residence is currently vacant, however, indicated <br />her family would be living in the building while their new home is being constructed.
