We budgeted for approximately 28 hours
of programming and they are requesting to increase it to 35 hours. The increase would be for
$3,964 and is available for re-allocation from the Council Contingency Fund which currently has
an unencumbered balance of approximately $27,000. She noted that Jill Prall from Ramsey
Elementary and Addle Larson from Sandburg Middle School were present to answer any
questions.

Councilmember Haas Steffen commented that one of the things the Community Education is
aiming at is doing things for teens and she had previously asked about meeting with church
groups.

Addie Larson replied that she is a member of the Youth First and that she would like to meet with
churches to find out their needs and what they offer. It could be a cooperative effort.

Councilmember Haas Steffen asked if there is anything that stops the district from doing things
cooperatively with churches.

Ms. Larson replied not to her knowledge.

Finance Committee/February 25, 1997
