BUDGET COMMITTEE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a budget meeting on July 15, 1997, at the Ramsey <br />Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember Carolyn Beahen <br />Councilmember Sheila Beyer <br />Councilmember Natalie Haas Steffen <br /> <br />Members Absent: Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator Ryan Schroeder <br />Finance Officer Jessie Hart <br />Administrative Services Manager Linda Waite Smith <br />City Engineer Steve Jankowski <br />Police Chief David Gustafson <br />Fire Chief Dean Kapler <br />Public Works Supervisor Merle Mevissen <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Councilmember Beahen called the meeting of the City Council Budget Committee to <br />order at 5:20 p.m. <br /> <br />COUNCIL BUSINESS <br /> <br />Upon presentation by staff, Councilmember Haas Steffen requested that the Police <br />Department analyze the advantages of a full-time Community Service Officer position <br />rather than the addition of clerical staffing. <br /> <br />Fire Chief Kapler noted that in the budget draft, reference to the requested Fire <br />Marshall/Inspector position and the change from Assistant Chief to Station Chief had not <br />been included. He also noted that Ramsey currently is home to 73 licensed day care <br />providers. <br /> <br />Police Chief Gustafson noted that an additional emergency weather siren may be <br />necessary soon for the twelve-year-old system. <br /> <br />He was asked by Council to provide a breakdown of where siren monitors are needed. <br />Service clubs were suggested as a source of volunteers. <br /> <br />Council/Budget/July 15, 1997 <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
