JOINT MEETING <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council, Planning Commission, and Park and Recreation Commission <br />conducted a joint meeting on Wednesday, February 5, 1997, in the Senior's Area of the Ramsey <br />Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember Carolyn Beahen <br />Councilmember Sheila Beyer <br />Councilmember Natalie Haas Steffen <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br />Planning Commission Chairperson David Bawden <br />Planning Commissioner Benjamin Deemer <br />Planning Commissioner Paul Holland <br />Planning Commissioner Sharon Jensen <br />Planning Commissioner Michael Terry <br />Planning Commissioner Bradley Thorud <br />Park and Recreallon Commissioner Reid Droegemueller <br />Park and Recreation Commissioner Jill E. Johns <br />Park and Recreation Commissioner Tom LaMere <br />Park and Recreation Commissioner Steve Ostrum <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />Planning Commissioner Charles LaDue <br />Park and Recreation Commission Chairperson Todd Cook <br />Park and Recreation Commissioner Beth Asfahl <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator Ryan Schroeder <br />Administrative Services Manager Linda Waite Smith <br />City Engineer Steve Jankowski <br />Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Mark Boos <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the .joint meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. and also called for everyone to <br />introduce themselves. <br /> <br />JOINT MEETING BUSINESS <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated he is trying to get to know all the commissioners and to find out if they have <br />any concerns. One of the concerns expressed was when Council makes a decision other than what <br />was recommended by the Commission. He suggested that the reason could be that by the time <br />Council gets the case, more information is received, however, he felt that the Commission <br />deserves the courtesy of knowing why Council's decision is different from what was <br />recommended. He noted how much input the commissions take and give and that they clear up a <br />lot of things for the City Council. <br /> <br />Councilmember Haas Steffen stated she has noticed that sometimes the City staff's <br />recommendation varies from that of the commission and she suggested that maybe someone <br />representing the commission should be at the meeting too.
