PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION CITY OF RAMSEY ANOKA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA The Ramsey Park and Recreation Commission conducted a regular meeting on March 13, 1997, at 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. Members Present: Chairperson Todd Cook Comnuss~oner Beth Asfahl (arrived at 6:18 p.m.-excused) Conmuss~oner Jill Johns Conumss~oner Reid Droegemueller Comnuss~oner Tom LaMere Commissioner Steve Ostrum Commissioner Mike Rolfe Members Absent: None. Also Present: Parks/Utilities Supervisor Mark Boos CALL TO ORDER Chair Cook called the regular Park and Recreation Commission meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. CITIZEN INPUT Ms. Natalie Stephen, resident of 7007 164th Avenue NW, Ramsey, addressed the Commission regarding the Mississippi West Regional Park. This park was donated to Anoka County by Mr. Huseby, a Ramsey resident. For the past ten years, Ms. Stephen has envisioned creation of an arboretum within the park. Her vision for this type of park would include incorporation of green houses thus contributing to the park's natural state as per specified property use by Mr. Huseby. During Ms. Stephen's world travels, she has toured gardens and compiled a collection of pictures. As well, she has two videos approximately 15-20 minutes in length. Ms. Stephen requested she be allowed to present information to the Commission about her vision at one of its meetings. Mark Boos, Parks/Utilities Supervisor, agreed this would be appropriate and indicated Ms. Stephen would be placed on the Commission's April agenda accordingly. Additionally, Mr. Boos will contact the director of the Anoka County Parks for information on an arboretum concept and any future plans for further development of the Mississippi West Regional Park.
