PUBLIC HEARING <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Planning Commission conducted a public hearing on Tuesday, March 4, 1997, at the <br />Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota to hear input <br />regarding a Request to Renew a Conditional Use Permit to Mine and Export Soils; Case of Sidney <br />Nyhusmoen. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Chairperson David Bawden <br />Commissioner Benjamin Deemer <br />Commissioner Paul Holland <br />Commissioner Sharon Jensen <br />Commissioner Charles LaDue <br />Commissioner Bradley Thorud <br /> <br />Members Absent: Commissioner Michael Terry <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Engineer Steve Jankowski <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Chairperson Bawden called the public hearing to order at 7:56 p.m. <br /> <br />REQUEST TO RENEW A CONI)mONAL USE PERMIT TO MINE AND EXPORT SOILS; <br />CASE OF SIDNEY NYHUSMOEN <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski stated that Mr. Nyhusmoen's property is located north of Highway 10 and <br />west of Armstrong Boulevard in Ramsey Industrial Park. The property owner was granted a mining <br />and grading permit in 1994, when he proposed to remove 14,000 yards of material. The site slopes <br />gently from the northwest to the southeast. The applicant proposed to carve out a flat area in the <br />southern portion of the property for a building site. However, no mining or grading has occurred in <br />the last three years and the permit is about to expire.
