FINANCE COMMITTEE
CITY OF RAMSEY
ANOKA COUNTY
STATE OF MINNESOTA

The Ramsey Finance Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, June 27, 1995,
at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota.

Members Present:

Mayor Glen Hardin
Councilmember Carolyn Beahen
Councilmember Sheila Beyer
Councilmember Kenneth Peterson
Couneilmember Gerald Zimmerman

Also Present:

City Administrator Ryan Schroeder
Finance Officer Jessie Hart
City Engineer Steve Jankowski

CALL TO ORDER

Councilmember Peterson called the regular meeting of the Finance Committee to order at
6:05 p.m.

CITIZEN INPUT

None

CONSENT AGENDA

None

APPROVE AGENDA

Consensus was to approve the agenda as presented.

COMMITTEE BUSINESS:

Case #1: Provide Direction on the Receipt of Donation(s) from Ace
Solid Waste

Finance Officer Hart stated that Ace Solid Waste has inquired as to the process and
opportunities for providing regular donations to the City. Their proposal is as follows:
For every net new customer, Ace will donate a monetary amount toward the park (net being
if ten new customers are received but five current customers change haulers, then only five
would be recognized). At a point in time, when the amount has been deemed recognizable,
annually, Ace would present a "giant check" to the City, displaying the total amount
donated during the year. The check is proposed to be presented at a City function. Other
recognition mechanisms could be through marking or branding park items that are
purchased through these donations. While the City always welcomes donations from
individuals and organizations, Ms. Hart cautioned that the City should be cognizant of the
picture created by actively promoting a program that could be perceived as serving as a
marketing mechanism for any business or organization. She stated that Commercial
Asphalt donates $500 a year toward parks/youth in Ramsey and they have not asked for
any recognition/advertising, etc.

Finance Committee/June 27, 1995
